Liberty Prevails Over Wings in Dallas Showdown
In Dallas, the Liberty had a much more promising start in their Friday game against the Wings compared to their previous outing at College Park Center.
The team played cohesively, with a remarkable performance from the Liberty starter who netted 42 of the team’s 50 first-half points, establishing a solid 16-point lead by halftime.
However, Sandy Brondello’s enthusiasm might have been dampened by the second half performance.
New York seemed to lose their edge briefly during the third and fourth quarters, allowing Dallas to tighten the score. At one point, things got uncomfortably close, but the Liberty managed to hang on for an 88-77 victory.
Even without star rookie Page Bookers back in the lineup, the Wings outscored Liberty 23-14 in the third quarter, shrinking New York’s sizeable 18-point lead down to just three.
Fortunately for Liberty, the contributions of Jonquel Jones, Leonie Fiebich, and Sabrina Ionescu helped regain control early in the fourth quarter, allowing them to secure a third straight win.
Emma Meesman was instrumental in getting the Liberty off to a good start, scoring 14 points in the first half along with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. However, her impact waned in the subsequent half.
Several players reached double figures for Liberty, including Fiebich, who, despite fouling out in the second half, managed to finish with 14 points.
New York, now standing at 20-10, is gearing up for a three-game road trip out west before facing the Lynx back home in Brooklyn on Sunday.
