Smith claims Republicans are enjoying easy victories over progressive Democrats

On Friday, ESPN host Stephen A. Smith shared his candid thoughts about Democrats during his show, particularly highlighting progressive figures such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett. He suggested that Republicans have largely benefited from these progressive Democrats, calling it a “field day” for them.

While not completely endorsing President Donald Trump’s actions, Smith contended that some Democrats had shifted their criticism away from him, which he believes ultimately harms Democratic interests. “When you hear Jasmine Crockett and AOC speak, even Elizabeth Warren to a lesser degree, it’s like they just invite Republicans to go on the attack,” he remarked, noting how their rhetoric seems to fuel negative narratives against them.

Shifting focus, he mentioned New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, suggesting that although some New Yorkers might support him, he would struggle nationally if he leans towards anti-capitalist or extreme left ideologies.

Smith expressed confidence in addressing issues with progressives, emphasizing that he’s not afraid to voice his opinions on them.

During the discussion, Dr. Phil, who was part of the panel, agreed with Smith’s assertion that Americans are increasingly willing to share their political views without fear.

Bill Maher, the host of “Real-Time,” also chimed in, mentioning that Smith and Dr. Phil could represent a kind of “unified ticket” that many people might hope for. He noted that a significant portion of America is finding its voice and is unafraid to express what they truly believe.

Rumors have also circulated about Smith potentially running for president in 2028, with Smith hinting at such aspirations during the episode, stating he feels “fed up” with the current state of the Democratic Party.
