Rondale Moore Injures Knee in Preseason Game

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore faced a devastating injury on his very first play during a preseason game, marking his return after missing all of the 2024 season due to a knee issue.

Moore was on the field for the Vikings as they secured a 20-10 win over the Houston Texans. Entering the game as a punt returner, he was tackled by Texans linebacker Jamal Hill just after receiving the ball—right as he was trying to reach the sideline.

After the injury, a cart was brought out to assist Moore off the field. There was a noticeable emotional weight in the air, as he covered his head with a towel, perhaps overwhelmed by the moment.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell expressed the difficulty of the situation, stating, “That’s one of the most painful things for me as a head coach when I feel that feeling. I make my life out of trying to make others better than I found them. In such a situation, there’s nothing I can do. This is the worst feeling as a coach.” O’Connell emphasized the significance of knee injuries, describing them as “very important.”

Moore’s journey has been rocky; in 2022, while playing for the Arizona Cardinals, he participated in only eight games due to recurring hamstring problems. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, but sadly, sustained a knee injury during training camp that cut short his season. This year, he joined the Vikings but may now face another extended absence from the game.

As the Vikings work to build their wide receiver lineup, they are focusing on getting settled before the season kicks off, especially with Jordan Addison expected to sit out for a stretch.

In this game, 15 different players were targeted, with Sam Howell, Max Brother, JJ McCarthy, and Brett Lipien featuring prominently at quarterback.
