Dak Prescott’s Ambitions for the Cowboys
Dak Prescott has some big dreams for the Dallas Cowboys.
Depending on your perspective, you might either admire or question the confidence of the longtime quarterback. Recently, he stirred up some headlines after the Cowboys’ preseason opener against the Rams by boldly predicting that both teams could meet again in this season’s NFC Championship game.
Before the game started, Prescott was seen shaking hands with Rams owner Stan Kroenke. In that moment, he confidently remarked, “We’ll see everything at the NFC Championship.”
This wasn’t just a casual comment; it was caught on camera, adding to the buzz.
While the Rams aren’t necessarily seen as the top contenders in the NFC, they are expected to have a decent season, with an over/under of 9.5 wins, compared to Dallas’ 7.5 according to Draft Kings.
Prescott’s predictions could reflect his genuine beliefs about potential playoff aspirations during this preseason.
What makes his statement notable isn’t just the boldness but also the fact that the Cowboys haven’t reached the NFC Championship game since 1995, holding the longest drought in the conference.
Despite a disappointing record of 7-10 last season and injuries plaguing Ceedee Lamb and Prescott himself, the Cowboys seem to remain determined.
The Rams had a solid 2024 season, making it to the NFC divisional round.
While the Rams are considered favorites in their division, the Cowboys will have to contend with the defending champion Eagles and last season’s surprising Commanders.
In terms of performance, Prescott, who’s now in his tenth season, threw for 1,978 yards last year with 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Interestingly, the three-time Pro Bowler secured a $240 million extension before last season, making him a part of the team through 2028.
