Mercury is direct, but we’re still feeling the effects of retrograde.

Mercury is direct, but we're still feeling the effects of retrograde.

So, here’s the scoop: on August 11, 2025, Mercury, the planet tied to our communication and, well, a bit of mischief, wraps up its retrograde phase.

When will Mercury’s retrograde end?

It officially turns direct at 3:29 a.m. ET, hanging out at 4 degrees Leo. But, you know, don’t expect everything to be smooth sailing right away.

Even after it changes direction, we might still feel some lingering effects for up to two weeks. This little fallout, often referred to as the Age of Shadows, can be a bit charming, yet unnerving.

Some might find it fun to call it “mercury retro shades.”

Mercury, which zips around the sun faster than any other planet, goes retrograde three to four times a year. If you consider the shadow phases, that’s roughly six months a year spent in this kinds of limbo.

The shadows won’t clear until August 25th, so we’re still kind of under this heavy celestial blanket for a bit.

When is Mercury direct?

According to author and Tarot reader Kelly Ward, post-retrograde can still feel pretty shaky for about two weeks.

Her advice? Hold off on planning big trips, diving into intense discussions, or making tech upgrades. Sometimes, it’s better to let things resolve naturally.

These aftershocks might bring some clarity about the issues we faced during the retrograde.

What is Mercury retrograde?

The final couple of weeks of the retrograde phase can be a good time for reflection. It’s worth looking back at our responses during the challenges we encountered, as they can really stir up old frustrations, as Ward points out.

For those interesting in therapeutic approaches, she suggests a self-help workbook titled “I’ll Unleash Your Shadow.”

Will things get better?

On a brighter note, there are positive shifts happening in August. Starting today, we might just see some beneficial transformations.

On August 12th, the alignment of Venus and Jupiter will bring in a refreshing change, offering a burst of confidence.

Then, on August 23rd, the Virgo New Moon will prompt us to reassess our habits and aspirations. With Venus entering Leo on August 25th, expect a notable shift in themes around love, finances, and creativity.

When is the next Mercury retrograde?

This year’s last retrograde will take place in Sagittarius from November 9th to November 29th.

The pre-retrograde period will stretch from October 21st through December 16th.

Hang tight, everyone!
