Colin Gosselin Reflects on Reality TV Life and Its Impact

Colin Gosselin recently opened up about the challenges he and his brother faced during the filming of “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” sharing how the experience often turned them against each other. In a heartfelt TikTok post, he expressed concerns over the effects of fame on their family, reflecting on their shared childhood that was documented on the show from 2007 to 2017, alongside their siblings—Alexis, Hannah, Arden, Leah, Joel, Maddie, and Cara.

“I wonder every day what our lives looked like, being forced to do it alone,” Colin shared. He expressed a desire to eventually join the Marines, citing how his mother’s actions, stemming from the pressures of reality TV, led to a difficult upbringing.

Colin’s feelings of being pitted against his siblings highlight the complexities of their childhood. “We were forced and opposed each other,” he noted. “All the fame and money in the world doesn’t equate to what children should experience during their formative years.” He emphasized his love for his siblings, reflecting on the tears he shed in private, recalling the memories they made before their lives became intertwined with the spotlight.

In the wake of his parents’ highly publicized divorce, Colin struggled with his mental health. He reportedly faced behavioral issues and was placed into a mental health facility without consulting his family. “I couldn’t meet his needs with my resources here,” Kate explained during an episode of “Kate Plus 8,” when discussing her decision to seek help for Colin.

Colin later claimed that his mother’s treatment of him affected their relationship deeply and spoke candidly about feeling isolated from his siblings. He mentioned that he hasn’t talked to at least six of his siblings since 2016, noting that only he and Hannah maintain a connection with their father, Jon.

“At the end of the day, none of us decided to join TV,” he stated. His sister Hannah echoed his sentiments, emphasizing that while they don’t resent their parents for putting them on the show, they understand the weight of the decision and its unexpected consequences.
