Plane Crash in Kalispell, Montana
A plane crash at Kalispell City Airport on Monday left the pilot and three passengers with serious injuries, though they managed to escape with minor injuries.
Kalispell Fire Department Chief Jay Hagen mentioned that emergency services were alerted just after 2 p.m. when the accident occurred. The investigation indicated that a small plane, attempting to land, collided with another small plane, resulting in a significant fire.
Despite the collision, the occupants of the landing plane managed to exit it with only minor wounds.
Interestingly, there was no one on the stationary aircraft at the time of the incident. All the injured were treated on-site and subsequently released, according to Hagen. However, both planes involved were completely destroyed.
Eyewitness videos captured the chaos, showing flames and thick smoke billowing from the scene. One bystander commented that the plane “scattered to the ground and bounced off.” Later footage revealed a soot-covered pavement, though the fire had largely been extinguished.
Firefighters from several nearby stations aided in controlling the flames, and Hagen noted that a swift mutual aid response played a crucial role in putting them out quickly. By 4:30 p.m., all emergency personnel had cleared the area.
As for the cause of the crash, investigations are ongoing.
