Bryce James Prepares for College Basketball

As Bryce James approaches his freshman year in college basketball, he is reflecting on the advice from his father, LeBron James, who is expected to be a Hall of Famer.

Following a recent summer practice, Bryce shared some insights into his father’s wisdom. “I’m just working hard here, doing my best,” he told reporters. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset, even on tough days, mentioning that it’s crucial to not let setbacks, like missing a shot, bring you down.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard, who earned a 3-star recruit rating according to 247Sports, received offers from schools like Ohio State and Duquesne. A significant factor in his choice to attend Arizona was the vibrant atmosphere and energy from the fans at the McKale Memorial Center.

“For me, it’s about the environment,” he said. “I know the fans really enjoy coming to the games. I want a genuine college experience, and Arizona felt like the right fit.” According to recruiting data from 247, he joins a robust freshman class at Arizona, which ranked third in this recruiting cycle.

Like his older brother Bronnie, Bryce has chosen to stay on the West Coast, coming off a high school career that included winning the California State title in 2025.

When asked if he wanted to steer clear of the spotlight after his brother’s experience at USC, Bryce clarified his priorities. “My focus is gaining experience in college,” he responded. “I’m not really concerned about what others might say; I’m just focused on college.”

As for Bronnie’s insights, Bryce noted that his brother encouraged him to stay concentrated and keep his head in the game.

Bryce believes his unique skills in shooting, basketball IQ, and defensive capabilities will contribute significantly to the Wildcats, who had a Sweet 16 appearance last season. With high expectations for the team and an impressive freshman class, he seems ready to put in the hard work to succeed.

“College and high school are two different things,” he reflected. “If I come here and put in the effort, I think it’s going to turn out well.”
