Taylor Swift’s Album Release Coincides with Cardinals Victory
The St. Louis Cardinals might be hoping that Taylor Swift can create a whopping 162 albums. Earlier this week, the pop icon revealed details about her upcoming appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, as well as announcing her 12th studio album.
Interestingly, Swift’s announcement coincided with a significant win for the Cardinals, who played a game that day.
On the same day, Swift teased her upcoming eight albums, as quoted by the Cardinals’ media relations. The first notable instance of this relationship dates back to July 20, 2010, when she released “Speak Now,” featuring hits like “Mine,” “Dear John,” and “The Story of Us.”
Up until now, there have been six notable events linking album releases to Cardinals games.
Now, here’s where it gets pretty intriguing. Swift announced her new album at 12:12 AM ET on Tuesday, but since the Cardinals were in the central time zone facing the Colorado Rockies, the timing plays out a bit differently. Technically speaking, the Cardinals achieved an eight-game winning streak, with the final score being 3-2 against the Rockies, finalized two hours before Swift’s announcement.
However, it’s worth noting that the Cardinals did lose to the Rockies on August 12th, across all American time zones.
Swift’s new album is titled “The Life of a Showgirl.” It seems like it’s going to be a hot topic, especially after the “New Heights” episode featuring Swift and co-host Jason Kelce was released at 7 PM.
The Kelsey brothers dropped hints early Monday morning via a podcast post, featuring only silhouettes of their guest, which fans quickly deciphered.
Swift’s recent guest appearance marked her as Time’s Person of the Year in 2023, being the first pop star to interview him after wrapping up the “Eras Tour.”
As for the Cardinals, they sit at 60-59 in games played this year on Swift’s non-album release days.
