Dolly Parton Receives Support from Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire
Dolly Parton is receiving guidance from friends Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire as she deals with the recent passing of Brandon Blackstock. During an interview with Entertainment of the Night, Parton shared her thoughts on Blackstock’s death; for context, Clarkson was his ex-wife and mother of his two youngest children, while McEntire was previously his stepmother.
Parton reflected, “I think it’s important to be thankful for the time you had with someone. It’s about taking their energy and making it a part of you. Remember them fondly and recognize they are at peace now.” She, having lost her husband Carl Dean earlier this year, noted that she hadn’t had the chance to talk to either Clarkson or McEntire, but felt affection for both of them.
In another tribute, McEntire took to Instagram to honor Blackstock, who died on August 7th. She shared a series of photos that show moments they spent fishing and enjoying family gatherings. “Last week, my son-in-law Brandon Blackstock returned home to God. His struggle is over, and we find peace knowing he is at rest,” she wrote, expressing gratitude for their time together and noting that his legacy will live on.
McEntire was married to Blackstock’s father, Narvel, from 1989 to 2015, making her his stepmother during that time. She also described her feelings towards Blackstock in a previous interview, stating, “He feels like my son—though he is my son-in-law.” Even back in 2010, she mentioned she didn’t view Brandon or his siblings as just stepchildren.
“No one else like him. I am so thankful for the time we had. His spirit and joy will carry on through his family. Rest easy, cowboy.” – Reba McEntire
Brandon Blackstock passed away at 48 after a private battle with melanoma, a skin cancer. He leaves behind four children: Savannah, Seth, River Rose, and Remington.
His death was confirmed by Silverbow County Coroner Dan Hollis, stating he died peacefully under hospice care at his home in Butte, Montana.
