White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt shared the joyful news of her second child’s arrival, a baby girl named Viviana, on Thursday. She posted about the new addition to her family on X, reflecting on the happiness the family is experiencing.
“On May 1st, ‘Bibi’ Viviana joined our family. Our hearts instantly exploded with love,” Leavitt expressed. She also mentioned that her newborn is healthy and her son is happily adapting to having a sister. “We’re savoring every moment in our newborn happy bubble,” she continued. She expressed gratitude for the support and prayers during her pregnancy, stating, “God is good.”
Leavitt and her husband, Nick, are parents to their son Nico, born in July 2024. Notably, Leavitt has made history as the first pregnant press secretary in the United States.
Recently, it became known that the White House is planning to have guest hosts for news conferences while Leavitt is on maternity leave. According to Dasha Burns, Politico’s White House bureau chief, there are plans for Leavitt to eventually return to her role, although it’s not clear how long her leave will last.
While there might not be a formal replacement for Leavitt during her absence, familiar figures—including Vice President J.D. Vance and Cabinet members—are expected to step in for press briefings, as well as former President Trump himself.
The White House has confirmed these details, enhancing the broader context surrounding Leavitt’s maternity leave and the dynamics at play.
