Unruly Passenger Disrupts Breeze Airways Flight
A disruptive passenger on a Breeze Airways flight caused chaos, hurling racial slurs and making an emergency landing necessary. The situation escalated when 46-year-old David Leroy Carter, a resident of Los Angeles, managed to escape detainment twice during the flight to Los Angeles.
According to officials from the Grand Junction Police Department, Carter was detained twice by airline staff but managed to evade them during a profanity-laced tirade. The flight, which originated from Norfolk, Virginia, was diverted to Grand Junction, Colorado, around 11:15 AM.
Upon landing, law enforcement arrested Carter and booked him into the Mesa County Detention Facility. The police stated that this incident is still under investigation, with more information expected to be released by the FBI.
Footage from the flight, shared on social media, shows a flight attendant attempting to restrain Carter with a plastic zip tie, to which he audibly protested. Other passengers assisted in managing the situation, including a man who physically carried Carter back to his seat, urging him to sit down.
While no serious injuries were reported among the crew or passengers, Breeze Airways noted that one flight attendant and one guest were assessed for minor injuries. The airline emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of all those onboard following this incident.
The FBI has stated that charges will be filed through the U.S. Attorney’s office in Colorado, though specific charges against Carter have yet to be disclosed.
