Taylor Swift Talks Sports and Love on Podcast
Taylor Swift recently opened up about how her relationship with Travis Kelce has influenced her understanding of football. During an appearance on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by the Kelce brothers, she shared her unique perspective on navigating both love and sports.
Swift reminisced about her first date with Travis, which coincided with the 2023 Super Bowl. She had a rather humorous misconception—she thought all the players were on the field at once, not realizing that Travis was facing his brother, Jason, in the game. “I didn’t know what a first down was or what a tight end did,” she shared, laughing at her initial naivety.
What started as light-hearted curiosity morphed into a genuine interest in the game itself. She noted how she became increasingly obsessed with football after the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Xavier Worthy, a player she described as very talented. “I got hooked,” she admitted, recalling a conversation with a friend who asked if football had captivated her. “I was just really excited,” she continued, reflecting on her newfound enthusiasm.
Interestingly, Swift pointed out that her only prior interaction with football was singing the national anthem at a game. Her upbringing in Pennsylvania, filled with the sounds of her father cheering for the Eagles, didn’t quite prepare her for the complexities of the sport.
Despite her new interest, she described her past relationship with sports as more of a background noise to her true passion: music. “I spent a lot of time in my room focusing on my instruments,” she said. However, now, as she finds herself cheering for the Chiefs, she has embraced the competitive spirit that comes with being in a relationship with an athlete.
“I’m competitive on his behalf,” Swift added, hinting at the fun dynamic of supporting Travis while also nurturing a competitive edge. Her journey into the sport, it appears, has sparked both laughter and genuine excitement in her life.
In a world where opposites often attract, Taylor and Travis seem to exemplify that notion—melding music and sports into a curious blend of modern romance.
