Todd Chrisley: We’re Back on TV
The Chrisley children recently discussed their thoughts on the prison system during an episode of “My Views with Lala Trump.” This comes after a former reality TV star was pardoned by President Donald Trump and made a comeback.
Todd Chrisley, who’s 56, shared that he didn’t engage in work during his prison time, noting his pardon by Trump. In contrast, his wife, Julie Chrisley, had a different take on her incarceration experience.
“I struggled,” Julie admitted on their podcast, “Chrisley Confessions 2.0.” She described her unfortunate conditions, recalling, “I was in a place without air conditioning.”
Family Betrayal and Identity Loss
The couple’s children feel betrayed by those closest to them, expressing a sense of loss over their family name.
“I did my job; he didn’t,” Julie remarked, referring to her guest Candi Bless from “The Real Housewives.” Todd countered, saying, “I refused; I ran my block.” Julie explained that she sought employment in a prison store out of necessity.
“I wanted to be able to order shampoo, body wash, and makeup,” she added. Despite it not being a luxurious setting, she managed to get brands like Covergirl and Maybelline, reminiscing about her beauty routine: “You’d walk down the hall, and there were women with fake lashes and hair.” Her only attempt at beauty was using bleach to maintain her blonde hair.
Struggles Outside Prison
The reality show couple has candidly shared that adapting back to life outside was tougher than their time in prison. Julie mentioned speaking with women still in prison, and they all seemed to agree on the difficulties of life after release.
“It sounds odd, but life outside can be even harder,” Todd said, affirming Julie’s point. He explained, “While prison life is challenging physically, the emotional and psychological pressures of the outside world are much more taxing.”
Todd and Julie Chrisley were pardoned by Trump in May following their convictions for bank fraud and tax evasion. After serving two and a half years, they maintained their innocence throughout the ordeal.
The Chrisley family’s journey behind bars has been showcased over the past three years. Their new show, “Chrisley: Back to Reality,” is set to premiere on September 1st and 2nd, with the finale expected on September 16th.
