2. Thread to Your Heart (Great American Family)

The owner of a charming yarn shop in New Zealand faces uncertainty when her main supplier, King Farms, announces its closure. This comes at a tricky time, with the business scene being, well, a bit chaotic. A businessman steps in to manage the shutdown but surprises her by giving her two weeks to convince him to support her in buying the factory. As you might guess, romance quickly brews in this situation. The premiere is set for August 16th on Great American Family.

4. King of Kings (Home Video)

In this touching story, young father Charles Dickens tells his son a bedtime tale about a king who washed his feet to calm storms and ultimately sacrificed his life for humanity. As the boy imagines this scene, it vividly brings to life Jesus’s journey. This animated film from Angel Studio, inspired by Dickens’s original manuscript, became a box office hit. It will be available on home video starting August 26th, but parents should note that it contains some intense themes and frightening moments.

6. The Prince of Egypt (Netflix)

A young man escapes Egypt after acting out in anger, only to uncover his true identity as Hebrew and his significant destiny. This animated musical, which first captured audiences in 1998, narrates the story of Moses as he fights for the freedom of the Hebrew people and returns as a messenger from God. Of course, the Pharaoh is not keen on this idea, leading to divine interventions. It’s an uplifting retelling that remains true to the spirit of the biblical story, although some details differ from the scripture—like the portrayal of Aaron, who doesn’t speak in this version. The film is rated PG due to its intense scenes.

7. Wicked (Prime Video)

A gifted young woman travels to Shizu University in the land of Oz, hoping to harness the mysterious magical powers there. Elfaba, who faces bullying because of her green skin, forms an unlikely friendship with the cheerful Glinda. This Disney musical sheds light on the backstories of two iconic witches from The Wizard of Oz, one deemed wicked while the other seen as good. It has a PG rating due to some scary scenes and mature themes.
