Mother and son reportedly escape the country to evade street racing charges in New Jersey

Charges Filed After Fatal Street Race in New Jersey

A 20-year-old from Staten Island, Alvi Limani, and his mother, Vilma Vneshta, 42, are facing multiple charges related to a fatal crash that occurred during an illegal street race in Plainsboro, New Jersey. The charges against Limani include aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and driving with a suspended license, among others. His mother has been charged with obstruction of justice. Both are currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center without bail.

The incident took place on June 29 when New Jersey State Police responded to a report of a serious accident on the Garden State Parkway. They found two young men, both 20 years old, who had been ejected from the car. Tragically, they were later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigation revealed that two BMW cars were racing at the time of the crash, with Limani allegedly speeding at 112 mph in a 55 mph zone. Witness statements suggested that Limani was recklessly weaving through traffic. After the incident, he and his girlfriend, Emily Harrington, 19, allegedly attempted to flee the scene.

Harrington has also been charged with obstruction and conspiracy to put others at risk. Additionally, another racer, Jeter Ogand, 23, faces serious charges including vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment.

After the crash, Limani and his mother reportedly tried to escape to Miami, with plans to leave the country. They were arrested on July 17, after law enforcement discovered they had purchased airline tickets for an outbound flight.

Currently, both Limani and Vneshta are in custody, with their immigration status indicating they may not be U.S. citizens. The Department of Homeland Security and other agencies have not publicly commented on the case yet.
