Quinshon Judkins of the Browns will not face charges following domestic violence claims.

Prosecutors in Florida have decided not to file charges against Browns rookie Quinshon Judkins following allegations of a domestic incident in Fort Lauderdale last month.

Judkins was arrested on July 12, accused of misdemeanor domestic violence and battery. Reports suggest he hit a woman with a clenched fist near her chin and lips while they were in a vehicle, followed by additional assault with her left arm and thigh.

This incident reportedly occurred five days before it was reported to the police.

According to a memorandum from the Broward State Attorney’s Office, extensive materials were reviewed, including police reports, body camera footage, surveillance video, and the woman’s statements. The memorandum noted, “The incident was not captured by video surveillance.” Importantly, the document pointed out there were no independent witnesses. While photographs of the victim’s injuries existed, a corresponding video from the same timeframe did not show any signs of injury. It added that these injuries could potentially be explained by other circumstances.

Furthermore, the memorandum mentioned the delay in reporting the allegations, which raised concerns. It stated, “The delay is problematic,” but ultimately, the prosecutor chose not to proceed since at one point the victim was alone and could have reported the issue discreetly.

While the legal side seems to be settled, the NFL is still looking into the matter. League representative Brian McCarthy shared that they are monitoring ongoing developments related to the case.

The alleged altercation reportedly happened on July 7 and involved Judkins’ on-and-off girlfriend, who accused him of punching her after receiving a text message about her.

Judkins was picked 36th overall by the Browns in the April draft and is currently the only remaining unsigned player from this year’s draft class. He missed all of the team’s summer camps.

In a related update, former Texas player Isaiah Bond announced on Thursday that he has signed with the Browns, following the removal of a “hold” for sexual assault charges.
