OpenDoor Begins Search for New CEO as Carrie Wheeler Resigns

Opendoor Technologies has announced that its current CEO, Carrie Wheeler, is in search of a successor and will be stepping down. In the meantime, Srisha Radhakrishna will take on the role of president and interim leader. Radhakrishna previously served as the Chief Technology and Product Officer at Opendoor.

Following this news, Opendoor’s stock saw an increase of up to 6.5% after the market opened, possibly influenced by a shift in retail sentiment towards Stockzit, which recently moved from “bearish” to “bullock.” Wheeler, who has been with Opendoor since 2020 and guided the company through its SPAC listing, will continue to serve as an advisor to the board for the remainder of the year. The company mentioned that the succession planning for the CEO position, which began in mid-2025, is progressing well.

Since joining the team, Radhakrishna has focused on accelerating product launches and reducing infrastructure costs, contributing to initiatives like Cash Plus. He expressed enthusiasm about the future, stating that Opendoor is developing a platform that enhances its current offerings while also shaping the future of residential real estate transactions.

While a new CEO is being sought, Radhakrishna and CFO Selim Freiha will report directly to the board. This leadership transition follows a surge in Opendoor’s stock, which experienced significant interest from investors recently, fueled by discussions on social media platforms like Reddit and X. Hedge fund manager Eric Jackson has publicly endorsed the company’s prospects, suggesting it could become a “100 bagger.” Earlier this month, another rally occurred after crypto investor Anthony Pompliano disclosed his investment in an online real estate venture.
