McCaffery Shares Family Loss on Social Media
Conor McCaffery, who is currently in a relationship with WNBA star Kate Linklark, took to social media this week to share a personal family tragedy. He announced that his grandmother, Marit Smavy Nowrin, had passed away.
In his post, McCaffery expressed his struggle to find the right words, saying, “I was trying to figure out what to say, but I can’t put into words how much you mean to all of our family. I refuse to say goodbye.” His girlfriend, Clark, replied with prayers and heart emojis, and many others expressed their condolences. Notably, Clark missed a game against the Connecticut Sun recently as she continues to focus on her rehabilitation.
McCaffery and Clark began dating in April 2023 when they were both students at the University of Iowa, playing for their respective basketball teams. Shortly after they got together, McCaffery began his coaching career with the Indiana Pacers as an assistant.
Career Developments
After his time with the Pacers, McCaffery transitioned to Butler University, working under coach Chris Holtmann since September 2024. He was part of the Bulldogs’ team during the collegiate basketball postseason tournament. Holtmann commented on McCaffery’s background, saying, “Following his high-level playing career, Connor had the opportunity to contribute and learn alongside one of the best staffs in the NBA. These experiences are incredibly valuable to our program.”
He further highlighted McCaffery’s strong basketball lineage, mentioning, “I’m excited by the quick and long-term impact he’s going to have on our program.”
Meanwhile, Clark has been seen supporting McCaffery at Butler games, showing a united front as they navigate their respective careers and challenges together.
