Bitcoin Breaks Previous All-Time Highs: Is the Peak Already Here?

Bitcoin has recently surpassed previous all-time highs, reaching over $124,500 just days ago. This surge has led analysts and market watchers to wonder if we might already be seeing a peak.

Veteran trader Peter Brandt highlighted insights from on-chain metrics shared by Colin, suggesting a 30% likelihood that BTC has already reached its peak.

Is There a Peak?

One analysis pointed to historical trends, indicating that Bitcoin usually hits its peak about 37 months after a previous bear market low. The current cycle’s bottom was noted in November 2022, when cryptocurrency prices dipped below $16,000 following the FTX collapse and impacts on other firms.

Counting from that low, we find ourselves looking at December 22nd this year, which means, in theory, there’s significant potential for digital assets. There’s even speculation about a price surge reaching $200,000, although Bitcoin would need to climb by about 60% to achieve that.

Brandt, however, offers a different perspective, seeing a 30% chance that BTC has already hit its high in this cycle. He anticipates a tough correction ahead, noting that after bull markets, a bearish phase typically follows, driving assets downward.

Brandt’s analysis suggests that Bitcoin could plummet to between $60,000 and $70,000 by November 2026. He has a more bullish long-term outlook, predicting BTC could soar to $500,000 eventually.

$500,000 per BTC?

Considering Bitcoin’s current supply of 19.9 million BTC, if the asset’s market capitalization were to skyrocket to nearly $10 trillion, that would represent a staggering 325% increase from its current value.

This optimistic future, based on current metrics, could fundamentally reshape Bitcoin. Data shows that gold, with its $22.7 trillion market cap, remains an uncontested leader, while tech giants like Nvidia, Microsoft, and Apple fall significantly behind in comparison.
