His wife, Sky Daily, spoke to TMZ Sports, revealing that the phrenic nerve—a critical nerve in WWE—was “compromised” in a recent procedure.
She mentioned that while the autopsy has been finished, the details have not been shared.
Reports indicate that an occupational therapist present in Clearwater, Florida, noted that a surgeon had “cut off” Hogan’s septum nerve during the operation, leading to Hogan stopping breathing. TMZ suggests that the situation is under “lockdown.”
Police were at the scene and reportedly discussed what they had heard from the therapists, with those conversations recorded on body cameras.
The Cleveland Clinic describes the phrenic nerve as pivotal in controlling the diaphragm and essential for breathing.
Hogan died on July 24 at 71. The Pinellas County Forensic Center later established that his cause of death was a heart attack. Hogan had a background of irregular heartbeat and also battled chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a cancer affecting white blood cells.
His daughter, Brooke, has been questioning the details around her father’s death and even offered to cover the costs of the autopsy to gain clarity. Earlier this month, she mentioned that his cremation was postponed due to uncertainties regarding his medical treatment. As of Thursday, she confirmed that Hogan had not yet been cremated.
Brooke, 37, shared her thoughts about her father’s death through a series of Instagram Story posts last Wednesday.
In one post, she stated, “Here’s everything I know. Please, stop speculating and asking questions. I’ve informed my brother too.” She added that she received calls from professionals, including police and nurses who were present at the time of his death, urging her to review body cam footage.
These experts have expressed strong feelings about what they observed, encouraging her to seek concrete answers.
