Houston Texans’ Jimmy Ward Faces Lawsuit Allegations

Jimmy Ward, the safety for the Houston Texans, is facing serious allegations in a civil lawsuit filed in Texas. The lawsuit claims he physically and sexually assaulted the mother of his three-year-old son while reportedly under the influence of methamphetamine.

This legal action, lodged in Harris County District Court, adds to a prior criminal charge against Ward stemming from his arrest on June 12 for felony domestic violence. Allegations include suffocating Christy West, with whom he had a long-term relationship.

At 34 years old, Ward had also recently been arrested for violating his bond due to a positive alcohol test.

The lawsuit is represented by Tony Buzbee, a well-known attorney who has handled various high-profile sexual assault and domestic violence cases. West is seeking over $20 million in damages.

In the document, West alleges that Ward entered her home on June 12 with “unstable and aggressive” behavior, leading her to suspect he was under the influence of drugs. The lawsuit states, “That night, she suspected he was under the influence of methamphetamine, especially crystal meth.”

Furthermore, West claims that during the incident, Ward slapped and suffocated her while threatening to kill her, even pulling her into her bedroom against her will.

The situation escalated when their son woke up, prompting West to try to calm him down. According to the lawsuit, in a moment of fear for her life, West alleged that she demanded sexual acts from Ward. Afterward, West fled her home with their child, while Ward was said to be “naked and visibly injured” searching for her cell phone, leading to her calling 911 and his subsequent arrest.

Additionally, the lawsuit hints at a previous incident where Ward allegedly coerced West into sexual acts under the pretense of giving her money for their son’s karate lessons.

Ward’s attorney, Steve Jackson, mentioned that a similar civil case had previously been filed and dismissed in Montgomery County. He stated, “This is the same civil case that was filed against Mr. Ward by other lawyers who previously failed… At this point, it is our intention to focus on criminal claims and future hearings for major trials, hoping this matter will be dismissed.”

Currently, Ward is at Texans training camp, recovering from foot surgery. Due to this, he hasn’t been able to participate fully in workouts since camp began. As he heads into his third season with the Texans, he was previously named the defensive captain and recorded 48 combined tackles and two interceptions during the last season.
