Visa Review Under Trump Administration
Over 55 million visa holders are currently under continuous review as the Trump administration intensifies its efforts on immigration enforcement. The State Department confirmed this initiative, aiming to assess the eligibility of individuals seeking entry into the United States. If a visa violation is discovered, the visa may be revoked, and those found in the U.S. could face deportation.
A spokesperson for the State Department stated, “The ongoing review involves all over 55 million foreigners who currently hold valid U.S. visas.” Moreover, the review process will look into law enforcement records and other information that might surface post-visa issuance.
Worker Visa Suspension Following Fatal Crash
Moreover, the spokesperson highlighted that visas would be canceled if any signs of potential ineligibility arise, which could include voluntary indicators like criminal activity or threats to public safety and terrorism-related activities. This decision seems especially relevant following a tragic incident involving truck drivers in Florida, linked to illegal immigrants.
The State Department has reportedly revoked a significant number of visas since the beginning of the Trump administration, citing a commitment to enhancing national security and public safety. This includes an increase in student visa revocations compared to previous years.
Consequently, the issuance of worker visas for commercial truck drivers has been suspended, a move that follows a fatal crash in Florida linked to an illegal immigrant driver.
Investigation into Driver’s License Acquisition
The driver involved, Harjinder Singh, allegedly made improper U-turns on a Florida turnpike, leading to the accident that claimed three lives. It remains unclear how he acquired his license, as he reportedly failed to demonstrate adequate English proficiency and misidentified certain highway signs. Singh is now facing serious charges, including three counts of vehicular homicide.
Lieutenant Colonel Jay Collins has taken charge of ensuring accountability in this case, pledging that Florida will pursue justice for the victims.
