Leading House Republicans commend Kash Patel as FBI searches John Bolton's residence

FBI Raids John Bolton’s Home and Office

James Kommer, the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, commended FBI Director Kash Patel and other officials from the Trump administration for their commitment to combating what they call the “deep state.” This comes as federal agents executed a search at former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s residence and office.

Kommer expressed uncertainty about Bolton’s actions but insisted he should receive due process. “I’m supporting Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, and others in addressing the deep state’s mistakes over the years and the misuse of power,” he stated.

He referenced a post from Patel on social media earlier that morning, stressing that “no one is above the law.”

Kommer described the situation positively, noting, “I see what Bolton possesses.” Meanwhile, Rick Crawford, the Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, mentioned in a statement that he is monitoring developments. He noted that while defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the situation is concerning and highlighted appreciation for Patel and Bondi’s professionalism.

Democratic Representative Jim Himes remarked that the committee was forewarned about the raid by the FBI, an assertion that Fox News Digital followed up on for confirmation.

Raids Connected to Document Classification Concerns

Federal agents raided Bolton’s home in Maryland, along with his Washington, D.C. office, reportedly due to suspicions regarding classified documents he may have. Bolton served as national security advisor under President Donald Trump from April 2018 until September 2019, and he was previously the U.N. ambassador under President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2006.

Since departing from the Trump administration, Bolton has been vocal on issues of national security. He notably made headlines in late 2024 when he chose to write under the name of former Vice President Dick Cheney, instead of supporting Trump in the upcoming election.

Fox News Digital has reached out for comments from representatives of the House Oversight Committee regarding Kommer’s statements.
