John Bolton’s Home Raided by Federal Agents
Former national security adviser John Bolton’s home in Maryland was the site of an FBI raid. The news broke just as Bolton was commenting on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, suggesting that Russia continues to expand its ambitions while Ukrainian President Zelensky is reluctant to concede any territory. This tweet came early Friday morning, as FBI agents reportedly entered his property.
Bolton noted, “Russia hasn’t changed its targets. We’re dragging Ukraine into the new Russian Empire,” sharing his concerns via X. He also referenced an NPR interview from earlier in August, discussing how talks aimed at peace, which Donald Trump seems eager to lead, may not yield any substantial results.
According to reports, agents arrived at Bolton’s home around 7 a.m. and were seen leaving with a box. However, Bolton was neither arrested nor detained during the incident.
There are ongoing investigations into potential classified documents that Bolton may still possess. FBI Director Kash Patel tweeted shortly after the raid, reiterating that “no one is beyond the law,” though he did not specifically reference Bolton.
Bolton, who served under Trump from 2018 to 2019, was ultimately dismissed over policy disagreements. Trump famously stated on Twitter that he’d informed Bolton, “he doesn’t need his services anymore in the White House.”
The FBI’s visit to Bolton’s home is part of a broader inquiry, and some analysts wonder whether the investigation has connections to various Russian actors involved in the complex political atmosphere. This raid coincides with discussions from Bolton about Trump’s controversial policies and motivations.
After the news broke, it was also reported that FBI agents had previously accessed another location linked to Bolton, a UN office in Washington, D.C., as part of the same investigation. Bolton, as the former ambassador to the UN under George W. Bush, seems to be at the center of scrutiny related to intelligence and national security matters.
