Immigration Enforcement Arrests Brother of Fatal Florida Crash Suspect

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has captured the brother of Harjinder Singh, an undocumented immigrant accused of causing a deadly crash on Florida’s turnpike that resulted in three fatalities in St. Lucie County.

On Friday, ICE confirmed that they arrested Singh’s brother, who is 25 years old and was a passenger in the vehicle during the incident. Officials indicated that he is also in the U.S. illegally and was initially taken into custody earlier in the week.

Following the crash, Harjinder Singh reportedly fled to California. To oversee his extradition, Lt. Col. Jay Collins was dispatched to the state.

There have been strong reactions regarding the crash, particularly concerning the issuance of commercial driver’s licenses to undocumented individuals by California’s Department of Motor Vehicles. This raised concerns about governance in California.

Desantis: State Lines Offer No Shield for Criminal Illegals

Additionally, Desantis expressed frustration over unlawful immigrants crossing state lines, criticizing those who enable them.

“Three innocent lives were lost due to negligence related to issuing commercial licenses to illegal residents,” he stated.

Commentators like McLaughlin have questioned how many more tragedies must occur before officials take decisive action on public safety.

“We extend our condolences to the victims and their families,” McLaughlin added, urging Governor Newsom and the Department of Homeland Security to prioritize state safety.

In response, Newsom’s office refuted claims of negligence, asserting that Florida was responsible for the suspect’s actions in the case.

“The California police had to intervene and make the arrest. Now, Florida politicians are trying to play blame games,” said a statement from Newsom’s office.

In light of these events, there have been discussions on how illegal truck drivers are treated within the justice system. Harjinder Singh, who was denied a work permit by the former Trump administration, now faces three charges of vehicular homicide.

In an interview, a spokesperson for Newsom conveyed support for the governor following criticisms similar to McLaughlin’s. They insisted that Florida’s local authorities had to arrest the suspect.

It was also revealed that Harjinder Singh had serious deficiencies during his driver’s test, having only answered a fraction of the questions correctly.
