Trump Applauds DHS Chief Noem for Painting Border Wall

President Donald Trump recently commended DHS Chief Kristi Noem for her initiative to paint the entire southern border wall, claiming it improves the wall’s efficiency in curbing illegal immigration.

During a media briefing in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump commented, “I had no idea she was listening.” He reminisced about watching Noem during a broadcast, noting, “When the paint got on, it looked amazing. If it’s white, it won’t heat up. But if it’s black, climbing it is going to be tough.”

He boasted about the quality of the wall, stating, “I built the same wall that the Border Patrol wanted.” Noem had announced that the wall would be painted black to enhance its deterrent effect.

While addressing a segment of the wall in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, Noem stated that black walls absorb heat, making them harder to climb, and they also help prevent rusting. She celebrated the recent funding that allowed for this substantial project.

In her speech, Noem mentioned that this decision stemmed directly from Trump’s request. The need for heat-resistant materials was underscored, as she explained that the black paint would further discourage illegal crossings.

Trump reflected on a conversation with Noem, where he suggested they add a coat of paint to the wall. He elaborated, “I didn’t realize she was listening. I suggested black to make the steel hotter. You could literally fry eggs on it, and it protects against rust.”

He then turned to Noem, asking her if one coat would suffice. She confirmed it would. Trump insisted on the importance of aesthetics, saying, “It looks beautiful.” He further expressed gratitude for the unexpected developments during their discussions.
