Concerns Raised Over Ghislaine Maxwell’s Interview Statements
Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has expressed skepticism about Ghislaine Maxwell’s statements made during her recent interview with Associate Attorney General Todd Blanche, following the release of the transcript on Friday.
“That feels very suspicious,” he noted. “Listening to the recording gives the impression that Ghislaine Maxwell has, well, entered the room.” He further remarked on how both she and the administration seemed to be aligned with their intentions during the discussion.
The released transcript and audio detail Maxwell’s comments, in which she asserted that she believes Jeffrey Epstein, her longtime associate and convicted sex offender, died by suicide while incarcerated and denied having a client list.
In the interview, Maxwell stated that she doesn’t recall receiving a birthday card from President Trump for Epstein’s 50th birthday, and insisted she has never seen Trump in any inappropriate situations.
“Maxwell spoke about the President in a certain light, though she mentioned him with respect,” McCabe observed. “It wasn’t a typical interview by any means, but it seems that both the administration and Ghislaine Maxwell achieved what they intended to.”
After meeting with Blanche earlier this summer, Maxwell was transferred to a federal facility in Texas that generally houses around 600 inmates, primarily those convicted of lesser offenses.
This transfer has drawn scrutiny, especially following an interview with Justice Department officials concerning Maxwell’s attempts to appeal her conviction to the Supreme Court.
The public has also criticized the Trump administration for failing to release promised documents related to the Epstein case during the campaign. In response, Republican lawmakers have called for testimony from officials to shed more light on the matter. Additionally, on Friday, the Justice Department provided the first set of documents regarding the case to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
