A suspect was apprehended for attempting to rob a mansion in Beverly Hills, California, related to Lionel Richie.
The Beverly Hills Police Department detained the 38-year-old near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Bevergreen Boulevard on Friday morning, as reported.
While officers did not confirm that the robbery attempt took place at Richie’s residence, multiple sources indicate the property belonged to a famous musician.
Richie’s representative, who is 76 years old, did not respond immediately to requests for comments.
Authorities received a call about a robbery around midnight, leading to the suspect’s arrest just blocks away shortly after.
It was reported that Richie was home when a suspicious individual tried to enter, activating the alarm system.
The sound of the alarm reportedly scared the intruder away, with nothing stolen from the property.
This latest incident adds to a string of celebrity homes targeted by thieves in California, amidst ongoing crime concerns.
Previously, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” stars Teddy Mellencamp and Edwin Aroyabe also faced a similar attempted break-in, which they claimed was thwarted by their alarm system.
In June, Brad Pitt’s mansion in Los Ferris was burglarized, with some of his belongings stolen while he was away.
Similarly, the home of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban was also robbed in February, though details on any stolen items remain unclear.
In an unrelated incident in November 2024, NFL player Travis Kelce faced a burglary where $20,000 in cash was taken from his apartment in Kansas City, Missouri.
