Updated quarterback lineup has Giants offense meeting a new 'standard'

Wan’dale Robinson Feels Optimistic as Giants Prepare for Season

Wan’dale Robinson, now a seasoned receiver in the NFL, is entering his fourth season with the Giants.

This preseason, working with a revamped quarterback group, has given Robinson hope that the Giants’ offense can rebound from last season’s struggles, where they ranked low in scoring.

“I’m feeling good about it. We put in a lot of hard work over the summer, varied our approach, and involved more players in the process,” Robinson mentioned after practice in East Rutherford, New Jersey. “In the preseason game, I believe we set a standard for everyone, not just the starters.”

The Giants managed to score an impressive average of 35.7 points per game during their three preseason victories, despite starter Russell Wilson throwing only 14 passes (with 10 completions) in two games, as he sat out most of the recent 42-10 win against New England.

When asked what he learned from Wilson at training camp, Robinson said, “His attention to detail stands out. He expects you to be in the right spot, and he’s clear about what he needs from you.”

“I’m always working to ensure I’m doing it right and hustling for the ball. It’s about that focus—wanting to be great—that really shines through with him,” he added.

As the team gears up for their first game against the Commanders on September 7th, Wilson, 36, has some solid backup options, including first-round pick Jackson Dart and veteran Jaymis Winston.

Dart, selected 25th overall in the draft, showed promise in the preseason, completing 32 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns without any turnovers.

“He has that confidence, and I can’t wait to see him on the field,” Robinson said, recalling his own career high of 93 receptions last season. “He’s really assertive and seems to know where to go with the ball.”

Robinson also expressed enthusiasm about the potential of having a more knowledgeable quarterback who understands all the checks, which could be beneficial for the offense.

Coach Brian Daboll hasn’t confirmed who will be the second quarterback behind Wilson for Week 1, referring to Dart as a “backup quarterback” before Sunday’s practice.

“Russ had a lot of reps, but others were really stepping up in practice. We need to prepare for various scenarios, and it’s essential for the team,” Daboll noted.

Robinson, along with teammates like Malik Nabels and Darius Slayton, is enjoying the positive momentum following an effective offensive display.

“It’s about getting accustomed to a winning mentality. We’re pleased with what we’ve done, but after each game, it’s what we strive for,” Robinson stated. “We want to come out, score 30 points, and I think that’s definitely achievable. Ultimately, we have to show it on the field—put the points on the board.”

“We’re focused on improving, taking it game by game, and being ready each week as Sunday approaches.”
