Paxton Endorses Raitz for Texas Attorney General

General Ken Paxton, a Republican, is backing Aaron Raitz in his campaign for Texas Attorney General. Raitz, who previously held the position of Deputy Attorney General under Paxton, has gained significant support within the party.

In a statement, Paxton expressed that, “One of the most common questions Texans ask me is, ‘Ken, you should take over as Attorney General.’ My answer is now definitive: Aaron Raitz.” He emphasizes that Raitz is “the only candidate fully vetted, combat-tested, proven, ready to become an attorney general, loyal, fearless, trusted, and held to the rule of law.”

Chip Roy, a Texas representative, has also announced his candidacy for the Attorney General position, intending to replace Paxton. Roy, who heads the House Freedom Caucus, switched his focus from the U.S. House of Representatives to this new race. He stated his pride in combating President Trump’s agenda while acknowledging the need for change.

Roy described the current situation in Texas as being under attack from various forces that threaten the state’s sovereignty and way of life. His commitment is to fight for the rights of Texans and oppose what he sees as radical influences “backed by Soros-funded judges.”

Meanwhile, Raitz has made it clear that he remains in the race and welcomed Paxton’s endorsement, highlighting his dedication to continuing Paxton’s legacy in the Attorney General’s office. Raitz has described his previous role under Paxton as crucial in a conservative movement that is engaged in a constant struggle for law and order.

Interestingly, while there is camaraderie among candidates, there’s also competition. Senator Ted Cruz, for example, has endorsed Roy, calling him his best ally and a close friend for over a decade. He praised the caliber of candidates running and indicated that Texas is well-represented in this race.

On the other hand, Democrat challengers like Senator Nathan Johnson and former Galveston mayor Joe Joevolsky are vying for the role as well. The political landscape in Texas is, as always, dynamic and filled with passionate voices.

In past controversies, Paxton faced serious allegations, but he was acquitted by the state Senate after the House voted for his impeachment in 2023. His complicated relationship with other politicians, like Roy, showcases the complexities of political alliances and personal beliefs.

As the race unfolds, it will be interesting to see how each candidate navigates the landscape while addressing the pressing concerns of Texans.
