Lifeguard Removes Former Secretary of State Antony Blinken From Hamptons Beach

Antony Blinken Asked to Leave Beach Amid Hurricane Conditions

Former Secretary of State Antony Blinken was asked to leave Georgica Beach in East Hampton, New York, on Friday due to dangerous conditions caused by an approaching hurricane. Reports indicate a lifeguard requested that he and his friends evacuate the area.

Photos captured Blinken enjoying a day at the beach, alongside friends, just before the lifeguard arrived in response to Hurricane Erin’s effects. The lifeguard patrol, along with a parked vehicle, was present while they packed up their belongings and left.

Georgeka Beach, like many others in the region, had been closed for several days because of the storm. It did reopen for pedestrian access on Saturday after the tide receded. Hurricane Erin emerged as the first Atlantic storm of 2025 and reached Category 5 status, with sustained winds of 160 mph reported on August 16. Waves along the East Coast measured between 15 to 20 feet, creating hazardous conditions.

Blinken has faced criticism in the past for his vacation choices. For instance, in 2021, he was vacationing in the Hamptons shortly before the Taliban took control of Kabul. Additionally, in May 2024, amid escalating conflict in Ukraine, he was seen playing guitar at a bar in Kyiv.
