Sen. Ted Cruz Critiques Gov. Gavin Newsom on Political Motives

On Sunday’s episode of Fox News Channel’s “Life, Liberty & Levin,” Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) voiced his disapproval of Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) regarding his current initiatives aimed at constituents.

Cruz alleged that Newsom is attempting to further his ambition for the 2028 presidential race with his actions.

Mark Levin, the host, remarked, “This guy, Newsom, is really just a scam and a fake, right? He’s doing this for the Democrats and the extreme left, but he’s denying the franchise to millions of Californians, isn’t he?”

Cruz agreed, calling Newsom “fraudulent” and “hypocritical.” He pointed out that, when observing the political landscape, it seems that many of the most egregious partisan gerrymandering tactics are being used by Democrats. Using statistics, he noted that in California, 58% of the votes go to Democrats, while in Illinois the figure is 82%. Conversely, Massachusetts has nine Democratic legislators, compared to zero Republicans.

He then contrasted this with Texas, highlighting that about 56% of state Republicans cast votes. The current representation shows 24 Republicans and 14 Democrats, leading to a 63% Republican delegation. Cruz suggested that this percentage is less than what would be seen in Maryland and noted the issues related to partisan gerrymandering.

Cruz continued, “I see your point, Mark. If California can do this, Texas should respond by redrawing our districts to ensure a Republican majority. Newsom clearly prioritizes the interests of Democrats over democracy. If other Republican areas choose to redraw their maps likewise, it could significantly alter the House representation in 2028. For Newsom, this whole situation is about presidential aspirations in 2028.”
