Royal Welcome for Kate and William
Residents near Windsor are gearing up for the arrival of Kate Middleton and Prince William, who are set to move into Forest Lodge. This change comes three years after their stint at Adelaide Cottage.
One local from the nearby Cranbourne Hall residential park expressed concerns about the couple’s privacy, especially for their young children—12-year-old Princess Charlotte and 7-year-old Prince Louis.
“I welcome them, but I hope they can live there quietly as a family,” remarked Jean Reeve, 87. “From what I’ve heard, it’s not a more private space than their last home.” She noted how people would likely pass by, recognizing where they live, which she felt wasn’t ideal for family life.
Another neighbor, Stephen Scozy, 57, shared that Prince William and Kate seem “happy” to be neighbors. “It’s great to have a nice neighbor,” he said, offering an invitation for a cup of tea, adding a personal touch to his hopes of being friendly with the royals.
Rose and Norman Noyce, both 85, also expressed their excitement about the new neighbors. “I’m really thrilled. They’re my favorite royals,” Rose commented. “I think they’ll make great kings and queens.” She hoped their closeness wouldn’t deter the couple from feeling comfortable in their new setting.
Kensington Palace confirmed that the family is expected to move to their new home “later this year.” Reports indicate that at least two nearby households have been asked to vacate to accommodate the royal family.
Forest Lodge, a Georgian mansion in Windsor Great Park, has a price tag of around $21 million. With eight bedrooms, it’s a significant step up from their four-bedroom home at Adelaide Cottage.
Initially, they moved to Berkshire’s estate in 2022 to facilitate their children’s schooling. However, sources suggest that this new move represents a fresh start following challenging times, including the passing of Queen Elizabeth and health issues affecting both King Charles and Princess Kate.
While the royal couple is reportedly looking at their place in Forest Lodge as a long-term residence, some insiders raised doubts about whether it should serve as their permanent home, questioning its grandness for potential future kings.
