The Enigmatic Wealthy Leftist Behind Funding the Legal Warfare Framework

Under research titled Breaking the Law: Exposing the Weaponization of the American Legal System Against Donald Trump, I’ve come across a list of billionaires who are often termed “philanthropists” but have used their vast wealth to support a legal system aimed at certain political figures. Some names, like George Soros and Reed Hoffman, may be known to many, but there are others worth discussing.

One name that surprised me while diving into this research was Herb Sandler. Sandler’s connection to George Soros is noteworthy, and I had a lengthy conversation with him recently on Dr. Michael Savage’s Newsmax TV show. There seemed to be a strong desire on his part to highlight his philanthropic efforts through the Sandler Foundation.

Here’s a bit about Herb Sandler:

In recent years, not much has been done to leverage fake news for legal purposes by conservative scholars, but Propublica, a nonprofit largely backed by the Sandler Foundation, has taken that mantle. This organization was established by the late banking mogul Herb Sandler, who was one of the first to use a philanthropic facade to fund activist organizations.

Sandler built his fortune through Golden West Financial Corporation, which operated World Savings Bank. Once, it was the second-largest savings and loan association in the U.S., thriving on “Pick-A-Pay” loans that allowed borrowers unusual flexibility in repayments. These loans have attracted significant criticism and are often deemed predatory. After the 2008 financial crisis, the scrutiny on Pick-A-Pay loans deepened, particularly since Sandler sold Golden West to Wachovia for $25 billion just before the collapse. Wachovia, after acquiring Sandler’s company, faced huge losses tied to risky mortgage assets.

To sum it up, Herb Sandler not only pioneered risky loan products but also set up a foundation aimed at promoting left-wing activism. Without Sandler, Propublica might not exist, as it has seemingly worked to challenge the Supreme Court with its findings. Propublica can be viewed more as a tool for opposition research, aiming to uncover dirt on political opponents of wealthy donors. Though it mimics journalism, it primarily targets conservative figures.

Interestingly, media coverage often overlooks Propublica’s prominent donors, many of whom come from the left, such as Soros’ Open Society, which has contributed over $3 million to it. The organization primarily advances liberal causes and tends to cherry-pick targets for investigation.

Take, for instance, their scrutiny of Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Propublica frequently accused Thomas of improper conduct due to his connections with wealthy Republican donors. However, there’s no substantial proof suggesting any wrongdoing on his part, which leaves more of a negative impression of him in public discourse than actual facts. Such narratives serve political aims, pushing for burdensome investigations and questioning the legitimacy of the court.

In another instance, Propublica focused on UnitedHealth, alleging it denied care to certain patients. Following the publication of a critical feature, the company’s CEO was tragically murdered. However, there was no evidence linking the perpetrator to any story published by Propublica. The organization continued its coverage of UnitedHealth shortly after the incident.

The Sandler Foundation deserves further mention. Beyond establishing Propublica, it has provided significant funding to organizations like the Campaign Legal Center and the American Constitutional Association, which have sought to penalize Justice Thomas for alleged ethics breaches. The foundation is also integrated into a broader network of left-wing “dark money” entities that support various media organizations aiming to promote a specific agenda.

Together with other influential figures like Soros and Hoffman, they have created a vast network of left-oriented prosecutors ready to manipulate laws in accordance with their political wishes.
