Trump Comments on Maryland Governor
President Donald Trump expressed skepticism about the possibility of a Democratic governor from Maryland running for president, even as that governor praised him publicly before entering the Oval Office.
Trump recounted an encounter with the Maryland governor, saying, “I saw a Maryland guy telling me… ‘You’re the biggest president, you do an incredible job. What a great job.'” He seemed to question whether the governor actually thought this, adding humorously that they had met in a hallway during an Army event back in 2024, but then he claimed, “He goes on TV, ‘Oh, Trump is a dictator.'” It’s unclear if Trump genuinely believes this adds to his narrative or just plays into the back-and-forth.
On Monday, Trump indicated that he and the governor shared a brief, playful moment during that event.
Bridge Collapse Aid Could Escalate Trump-Moore Tensions
In another remark, Trump mentioned how he had a warm interaction with Moore, noting, “He came to me, hugged me, waved my hand. You were there.” Trump claimed Moore told him he was the “biggest president” in his life. But it sparks a question: Did it happen as portrayed?
The Army-Nabee match took place in December 2024, right after Trump’s victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump Threatens to Send National Guard to Maryland
Moore pushed back against Trump’s comments during an interview, insisting such an exchange had “never happened.” He emphasized his commitment to integrity, referring to the six months he spent explaining why he opposed Trump’s presidency.
Footage from the 2024 Army-Trump match captured Moore thanking Trump, saying, “It’s great that you’re back.” But, clearly, this has turned into a contentious political issue.
Recently, Trump highlighted the bridge situation as a point of contention between them, suggesting he might withhold funds for it and could deploy the National Guard to combat crime in Baltimore. Trump has criticized the rising crime rates and has hinted at holding Moore responsible for the situation, especially regarding his “safe walks” initiative in the city.
In a recent post, Trump stated, “As president, I would prefer him to wipe out this criminal disaster before I go for a walk.”
