Vanity Fair Staff Upset Over Melania Trump’s Cover

In a recent turn of events, there’s been significant backlash from some editors at Vanity Fair regarding the potential inclusion of First Lady Melania Trump on the magazine’s cover. Reports indicate that this controversy has stirred quite a bit of anger among the staff.

As per the UK outlet, anonymous sources claim that global editor-in-chief Mark Guiducci’s idea to feature Trump has led to heated discussions. One editor was quoted saying, “I’m leaving Motherf– the doors, and half of my staff will follow me.” This sentiment clearly reflects the strong feelings within the team.

Following the discussions, there’s concern that placing Trump on the cover could lead to a major rift within fashion circles. It’s noted that while Trump was largely kept out of the magazine’s features during her husband’s presidency, her presence might incite further frustration among staff.

Interestingly, during Barack Obama’s presidency, his wife Michelle Obama graced the cover of Vogue three times. Jill Biden has also appeared twice since her husband took office. Meanwhile, Melania’s last Vogue feature was back in 2005, just after marrying Donald Trump.

Sources within Vanity Fair expressed that their objections are rooted in political beliefs. A staff member emphasized, “We are not going to normalize this tyranny and his wife.” There’s a sentiment that some staff would risk their careers over this decision, with predictions suggesting that Guiducci’s choice could lead to significant resignations from the editorial team.

In a contrast to the strong opposition, not everyone agrees with this assessment. Another employee mentioned that any backlash would fade quickly, claiming, “If they put her on the cover, people will protest and complain, but no one will quit such an honorable job.” This perspective hints at a split within the staff regarding the potential cover.

The First Lady’s office has yet to respond to requests for comments related to these developments.
