Bolton worries about Trump ending protections: ‘I intend to continue’

Bolton 'concerned' about Trump withdrawing protection: 'I plan to keep going'

John Bolton Comments on Security and Trump’s Policies

John Bolton, the former national security adviser, stated on Tuesday that he isn’t intimidated by the withdrawal of his security detail, a decision made by President Trump back in January.

This action followed revelations from federal officials regarding an Iranian plot against his life.

“I feel… I’m more concerned than anything,” Bolton shared, recalling his recent meeting with the South Korean president at an event. “But you know, that’s the environment we’re in. You can either be overwhelmed by it or keep moving forward, so I’m going to keep going,” he added.

Just last Friday, the FBI conducted a raid on his home near Washington, where they confiscated his wife’s phone while he was meeting with an agent in his office.

Though investigators were reportedly seeking classified documents, Vice President Vance denied that any retaliation sparked the investigation.

Bolton often appears on cable news, discussing presidential negotiations for peace between Russia and Ukraine, often labeling Trump as a mere pawn in Vladimir Putin’s game.

Before Trump’s second term commenced, Bolton released a book titled “The Room Where It Happened,” where he accused the president of putting reelection above national interests, sometimes to the country’s detriment.

“I find it hard to pinpoint key decisions by Trump during my time that weren’t influenced by reelection strategies,” Bolton remarked.

Now, with Trump hinting at a return to the Oval Office, discussions about his unique relationship with Putin have resurfaced amidst the war in Ukraine.

Some Republicans, like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, are clearly uneasy about the ongoing conflict, which has sparked debates about Trump’s campaign promises to cease fighting.

However, just days after discussions between Putin and various world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Alaska summit, there are still glimmers of hope for success.

In response to Bolton’s statements, the president labeled him “unpatriotic,” though national security advisers supported Bolton’s critical stance.

“President Trump’s strategy regarding Ukraine seems more inconsistent than it was last Friday when his administration executed a search warrant at my residence and office,” Bolton concluded, referencing his op-ed in The Washington Examiner titled “Trump’s Inconsistent Ukraine Strategy.”

“In the midst of chaos, the absence of clear communication among Ukraine, Russia, several European nations, and the United States has led to a breakdown, with Trump’s negotiations resulting in dire consequences, potentially impacting his aspirations for a Nobel Peace Prize,” he added.
