Shooting at Minneapolis Catholic School

A shooting occurred on Wednesday at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, as reported by Governor Tim Walz. He expressed his concern on social media, mentioning that it’s devastating for both the children and teachers starting their school year. The governor noted, “I am praying for the children and teachers whose first week of school has been damaged by this horrific act of violence.”

The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community, yet they acknowledged a shooter was present and that a suspect, whose identity hasn’t been disclosed, is deceased. Officials urged residents to stay clear of the area so paramedics could provide assistance.

Witnesses reported seeing parents evacuating their children. Some residents mentioned they heard gunfire but didn’t alert authorities, mistakenly thinking it was related to roofing work in the neighborhood. A federal source cited a worrying number of injuries resulting from the incident.

Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem remarked that they are closely monitoring the situation and are coordinating with various agencies. She expressed her prayers for the victims and their families. Mayor Jacob Frey reiterated the horror of the violence occurring in southern Minneapolis.

Frey added he has been in contact with the police chief, stating that the emergency response team is activated and will provide updates as they gather more information. Agents from the ATF are also responding to the scene.

President Donald Trump has been briefed on the situation. He stated that the FBI is responding rapidly and emphasized that the White House is monitoring developments closely. He urged everyone to pray for those affected.

The Catholic school, which offers education from kindergarten through eighth grade, had just opened earlier in the week.
