The father of Emmanuel Haro has confessed to killing his seven-month-old son and disposing of the body in the trash. Authorities claim the child suffered prolonged abuse at the hands of both parents.
Investigators deployed undercover agents to gather information about Jake Halo, as reported by Brian Entin of News Nation.
Officials assert that Emmanuel died after experiencing extensive physical abuse from Jake Halo, who resides in Riverside County, California, and his wife, Rebecca.
It is believed that Baby Emmanuel was deceased for as long as nine days before his mother was reported missing on August 14, 2025, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.
“There’s substantial evidence suggesting Emmanuel was subjected to ongoing abuse, which ultimately led to his injuries and death,” Riverside County District Attorney Michael Hestlin shared with the press on Wednesday.
He also noted, “We have quite a clear indication of where Emmanuel’s remains are.”
Initially, Rebecca Halo told authorities that on August 14, while changing the baby’s diaper outside a sporting goods store in San Bernardino, an unknown man attacked her and kidnapped Emmanuel.
However, sheriff’s deputies arrested Jake Halo a few days later, charging him with murder due to inconsistencies in their accounts.
From jail, Jake revealed a different narrative, claiming he suffocated Emmanuel and buried his remains near a highway, according to sources cited by Brian Entin.
This alteration in the story may clarify why Jake Halo was seen alongside investigators in a remote area of Moreno Valley.
“We have some ideas regarding the areas we’re investigating,” Hestlin mentioned.
He referenced Jake Halo’s 2023 conviction for child abuse against a young girl from a previous marriage, highlighting the severity of past incidents.
Hestlin expressed frustration, noting that Halo should have been incarcerated following that prior incident, which resulted in serious injuries to the child, including a broken rib and skull.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Halo did not serve jail time.
“The decision is absolutely outrageous. Mr. Halo should have been in prison,” Hestlin stated emphatically.
Authorities confirmed that both Jake and Rebecca Halo are facing murder charges, though they have yet to pinpoint the exact location of Emmanuel’s remains.
