Miami Dolphins Preseason Updates

Last season was a tough one for the Miami Dolphins, ending with an 8-9 record and missing out on the NFL playoffs. This disappointing year understandably fueled frustration among the team’s dedicated fans.

General Manager Chris Greer spoke with reporters on Wednesday, following the roster cuts down to 53 players required by the league. He discussed the overall team structure as they look ahead to the 2025 season and provided updates on certain players as week one approaches.

In a surprising turn during the press briefing, Greer shared that he had received an offensive email targeting his child, a situation apparently stemming from fan frustration.

Greer mentioned, “When I’m out in public, people are usually great—just saying things like, ‘Keep going, thank you.’ But I know there are some who are not pleased with the current state of the team.”

He also acknowledged the impact of last season’s disappointing finish, expressing some concerns. “If I say I’m comfortable with how things are, that would be unrealistic,” he explained. “We didn’t win enough games, and I get that. I don’t take it personally, but the general vibe has been quite positive from fans when I see them.”

Greer went on to reveal, “I’ve received some pretty harsh emails. One even expressed a wish that my children suffer from illness. While it’s troubling, I don’t let those extreme reactions affect me—I recognize that there are larger issues in life.”

Having been promoted to General Manager in 2016 after joining the Dolphins in 2000 as a scout, Greer has weathered various storms with the franchise. He confirmed that cornerback Cam Smith will start the regular season on a non-football injury list, having played six games in the previous season.

On a slightly more positive note, Greer provided updates regarding running back Devon Achine, who has been dealing with a calf injury. “All indications show Achine is ready for week one,” he stated, instilling a bit of optimism as the team gears up to face the Indianapolis Colts.
