Engagement Announcement
It’s official—Sheika Mara bint Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktum, the daughter of Dubai’s ruler, is engaged to rapper French Montana. This news comes just a year after she announced her divorce from her first husband, citing concerns about his attention being elsewhere.
Montana, whose birth name is Karim Kharbouch, proposed to the princess during Paris Fashion Week in June, according to a report from TMZ. However, there are still no details regarding the wedding plans, and Montana’s representatives have yet to comment on the engagement.
Mara, 31, is the daughter of Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktum, the Prime Minister of the UAE. The couple was first linked in late 2024, which raised a few eyebrows when Montana appeared as a model in a fashion show, making people wonder about his commitment.
The princess publicly announced her intention to divorce her first husband in a notable Instagram post, stating, “I declare our divorce here because you’re obsessed with other people,” a comment that drew attention to her personal struggles.
It’s worth noting that the divorce involved a traditional practice known as “triple rejection,” a controversial method where a husband can divorce his wife by declaring it three times.
Mara and her ex-husband had a lavish wedding in April 2023, and their daughter was born in May 2024, but just two months later, she was ready to move on.
After their separation, she was often seen with Montana, both in Dubai and other locations, and they shared cute moments together, including outings on camels and dinners near mosques. This marks the second marriage for both of them—Montana, who became a U.S. citizen in June 2018, shares a son with his former wife, Deen Kharbouch. Their marriage ended in 2012, with the divorce finalized in 2014.
Amid all this, it seems both are embarking on a new chapter, and, well, it’s definitely an interesting turn of events! Let’s see where this goes.
