George Clooney Misses Venice Film Festival Appearances Due to Illness
George Clooney, the 64-year-old Hollywood icon, has been absent from key events at the Venice Film Festival. Reports confirm that he has been diagnosed with a sinus infection and has been advised by medical professionals to limit his activities for the day.
This means Clooney missed a significant dinner alongside his co-stars, Adam Sandler and Laura Dern, and he also skipped the press junket for his latest film, directed by Noah Baumbach, titled “Jay Kelly.”
He is expected to make a notable comeback at the 2025 Tony Awards, where he’ll embrace his distinguished Silver Fox persona.
Interestingly, Clooney was spotted in a water taxi on Wednesday around 4 PM, which many found surprising given his illness. He further missed the press conference for the Netflix release, extending his absence.
The press conference moderator addressed Clooney’s situation, saying, “You may know that George Clooney won’t be here due to a bad sinus infection. We really wish he could join us tonight on the red carpet. It’s unfortunate.” Director Baumbach lightened the atmosphere, remarking that “even movie stars get sick.”
Clooney arrived in Venice the previous Tuesday with his wife, Amal, who dazzled in a stylish light yellow halter dress accessorized with gold accents. The couple strolled hand-in-hand, both dressed elegantly, with Clooney in a fitted black polo and beige trousers, showcasing his naturally gray hair.
Amal captured attention as they arrived at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, where they appeared as a stylish duo. Clooney has, at times, opted for a different look, temporarily coloring his hair for a role in a Broadway production, but this time, he embraced his natural gray.
The couple’s journey together has included memorable moments, like their engagement in April 2014 and their wedding in Venice just five months later. They later welcomed twins, Alexander and Ella, in 2017.
