Ford Issues Recall for Over 355,000 Pickup Trucks
Ford may be recalling more than 355,000 pickup trucks across the country due to issues with dashboard displays malfunctioning. This was reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on August 22.
The recall affects specific models of the 2025 F-150 as well as 2025-2026 Super Duty trucks, including F-550, F-450, F-350, and F-250 variants. According to the report, the instrument panel can fail during startup, which results in a blank screen that makes it impossible for drivers to see vital safety information and gauges.
While Ford hasn’t reported any accidents or injuries linked to this problem, the company received 95 warranty claims by June 26. The NHTSA cautioned that such breakdowns heighten the risk of crashes since drivers can’t access critical vehicle data.
To address the situation, Ford is offering free software updates. Owners can get these updates through authorized dealers or via an “Over the Air” download. It’s estimated that all 355,656 affected vehicles have defective software that was introduced in June 2024 and then phased out in July 2025.
This dashboard issue adds to Ford’s list of recalls this year. Recently, the company also recalled over 694,000 Bronco Sports and Escape models due to fuel injection problems, along with the anticipated recall of more than 850,000 vehicles for potential fuel pump failure, as noted in separate NHTSA reports.
Kumar Garhotra, Ford’s Chief Operating Officer, emphasized their commitment to increasing recalls by focusing on swift identification and resolution of hardware and software issues. He mentioned enhanced safety tests as part of their strategy to tackle these concerns.
Ford stated that air-based software updates are “more convenient for customers than in-person dealer visits.”
