Vance Criticizes Democrats Over Crime Response

Vice President JD Vance recently remarked that President Donald Trump has inadvertently rallied some Democrats around the issue of violent crime in Washington, D.C. This comment comes after the administration dispatched the National Guard to aid urban police departments in tackling crime rates.

During a speech in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, Vance accused Democrats of trivializing violent crime in American cities. He stated, “Is Milwaukee a super safe city right now? There are some crime issues. It’s a beautiful city, filled with hardworking people. But honestly, Milwaukee has its share of crime problems. Chicago… well, that’s no exception either.”

He questioned why local leaders seem upset over Trump’s offer of assistance instead of focusing on the struggles faced by their communities, where carjackings and murders are prevalent. “That’s not a meaningful ounce,” he added.

Vance highlighted how Trump has compelled Democrats to back crime, pointing to their resistance against the administration’s efforts to reduce crime. He recounted a conversation with Trump, who joked, “JD, don’t you know what I did with that? I’ve actually got Democrats coming out to defend crime.” He further quipped that if Trump stated his fondness for puppies, someone like AOC would likely criticize them.

Vance emphasized, “Here’s Donald Trump, who cut murders, carjackings, and armed robberies in D.C. in just 14 days. Meanwhile, National Democrats come out with statements like, ‘Oh, we love murder and carjacking.’ Why don’t they just use common sense? Isn’t it clear that killing and robbing people is wrong? Wouldn’t it be nice if they could work together just once?”

Interestingly, one Democrat showing a different angle on this issue is D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. She praised Trump’s initiative, highlighting a notable decrease in carjackings within just 20 days due to the federal surge in law enforcement support.

“We appreciate the additional resources that strengthen our Metropolitan Police Department. The difference in carjackings between this 20-day period and the same timeframe last year shows an 87% decline in incidents here,” she noted.
