Ben Shelton’s Upcoming Match at the US Open
Ben Shelton is gearing up to take the court again at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center as he advances to the third round of the 2025 US Open.
In the second round, Shelton secured a win against Pablo Carreño Busta in straight sets. After the match, he faced some questions from the media, but it wasn’t just the usual reporters he encountered. Unexpectedly, Trinity Rodman, a standout from the US women’s soccer team who has openly acknowledged her relationship with Shelton earlier this year, was in the stands rooting for him during the match.
Rodman humorously commented on Shelton’s serving speed after the game, playfully asking, “So how did you feel you couldn’t provide service faster than 135 [mph] today?”
To this, Shelton seemed caught off guard and turned to the side, asking another attendee, apparently unknown to the viewers, “Why did you ask her questions?”
Rodman continued with her light-hearted teasing, mentioning, “I know you want to serve a great deal, and that didn’t break the 140 today.” Shelton explained his performance, saying, “Yeah, it was cold outside. I think that was the main reason. I was focused on hitting spots, so maybe I should just serve bigger.”
In addition to her international play, Rodman also competes for the Washington Spirit in the NWSL and is the daughter of former NBA star Dennis Rodman.
Reflecting on Rodman’s support, Shelton said, “My girlfriend took the red-eye from California last night to be here.” He will face Adrian Mannarino in the third round on Thursday.
