The Oregon Duck Mascot’s Unfortunate Mishap
The well-known Oregon duck mascot, often seen as a beloved figure, had a little trouble before Saturday’s game against Montana. Just before kickoff, during a pre-game run, he accidentally lost his head.
After a quick recovery, the mascot managed to send his head flying into the tunnel, with staff members scrambling after it. This was certainly not the first time this unofficially named Puddles has encountered this hiccup; the character has been around since the 1940s and has lost its head multiple times over the years.
Interestingly, prior to a previous match against Buffalo in September 2023, Puddles had donned a cheeky outfit, mimicking a certain personality with a white hat and sunglasses. It seems like Puddles has a flair for the dramatic.
Chaos unfolded when the mascot attempted to swing a bat at a clock labeled “prime,” which ultimately resulted in his head flying off after the third attempt. Just like the incident from Saturday, the paddle rushed off the field once it got disoriented.
Oregon Ducks Dominate Montana State
In any case, the No. 7 ranked Oregon team crushed Montana State with a final score of 59-13, led by quarterback Dante Moore, who threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns. Quite an accomplishment, if you ask me!
Moore, who was behind Browns rookie Dilongabriel last season, aimed to take charge of the team this year. However, Coach Dan Lanning kept everyone guessing by not officially naming his starter before the match.
Earlier this month, Lanning mentioned that his experience with Gabriel would be beneficial to Moore as he navigates his way in Oregon’s lineup. “Learning from a great quarterback is invaluable,” he suggested, expressing confidence in Moore’s maturity and potential for leadership on the field. “I think this will open up great opportunities for our team,” Lanning added.
Moore also recognized the expectations that follow after Gabriel’s move, as well as those of Bonnix, who is in a new place as well. “Pressure is a privilege,” he noted, which is an interesting way to look at things. The entire offense is ready to shine, and that’s apparent with the determined mindset they all seem to have.
