Nestlé Appoints New CEO Following Ouster
Nestlé SA, the Swiss multinational food and beverage company, has recently announced the appointment of a new CEO after an internal investigation led to the dismissal of its former leader within less than a year. The investigation found that Laurent Freixe had engaged in inappropriate romantic relationships with direct reports, violating the company’s Code of Business Conduct. Notably, Freixe leaves without an exit package.
Chairman Paul Brucke and lead independent director Pablo Isla were involved in overseeing the investigation. Brucke remarked, “This was a necessary decision. Nestlé’s value and governance are our strong foundation. Thank you to Laurent for his years of service at Nestlé.”
In light of this change, Philipp Navratil has been appointed as the new CEO. Brucke praised Navratil’s impressive history of producing results in demanding environments and highlighted his collaborative management approach. He expressed confidence that the board would continue to push forward with growth and efficiency goals, insisting that the company’s strategic direction remains unchanged.
Navratil’s journey at Nestlé began back in 2001 as an auditor. Over the years, he took on various roles, including a stint managing operations in Central America and leading the coffee and beverage sector in Mexico. His recent focus has been on the company’s coffee strategies, especially with the Nespresso brand.
Upon taking on the CEO role, Navratil expressed his gratitude for the board’s trust and stated he is committed to steering Nestlé into the future while emphasizing a collaborative approach with company leadership.
