During a concert on Friday, fans witnessed Christian artist Tauren Wells not only performing but also pausing the show to pray for fellow musician Crowder, who recently healed from a leg injury. Wells, who had stepped in for Crowder at the Shenandoah County Fair in Virginia, shared later that he had kept his intention to pray private but felt compelled by God to act.
“I held back a bit, worried about how it might be perceived, but when God puts something on our hearts, we should say yes,” Wells explained on Instagram. He further encouraged his followers, asking them to join in prayer for Crowder’s swift recovery.
A month ago, Crowder underwent emergency surgery after breaking his leg and had hardware placed in it.
On August 5th, the Shenandoah County Fair announced Wells would perform in Crowder’s place.
Wells took to social media to share a prayer, tagging Crowder in the post.
In response, Crowder expressed his gratitude, writing, “My brother! You’re kind! Thank you for covering for me and for leading so well. You are a gift to God’s people, friend. I will receive it, in the name of Jesus!! Amen!”
Wells called upon concertgoers to pray alongside him, mentioning that it would be uplifting for Crowder to feel the support of the community. He asked the audience to remember the moment: “If we did it together, do you remember?” he queried, seeking applause. “Crowder, this is for you, my brother.”
He then directed his words to the camera, addressing Crowder directly: “Jesus, we stand here in the gap for David, our friend,” he began. “God, I pray that you are present with him, touching him. I ask for accelerated healing so that the doctors will be amazed, and the world might witness your power.”

Interestingly, this isn’t the first instance of Wells halting a concert for prayer. Back in late July, he led fans at the Ohio State Fair in a prayer for Forest Frank, who later shared a heartfelt video expressing his gratitude.
