Chicago Alderman Criticizes Mayor and Governor for Preventing Trump

A Chicago alderman is criticizing Mayor Brandon Johnson and Governor JB Pritzker for not collaborating with the Trump administration to make cities safer.

“We need to work together,” the 15th Ward Councilman expressed. “There’s nothing preventing Chicago’s mayor or the governor of Illinois from doing so.”

In response to a recent report, Mayor Raymond Lopez pointed out that the city remains in crisis even as Johnson and Pritzker publicly oppose Trump. He questioned how many deaths it would take for them to change course.

Lopez condemned Johnson, Pritzker, and their supporters for wasting time on trivial social media distractions.

“We should be focused on reducing casualties in our cities and states, not getting caught up in back-and-forth on social media, which only highlights the issues we face in Chicago and Illinois.”

He added, “The governor talks about ‘invasions’ and ‘riots,’ while the mayor issues ineffective orders to the federal government.”

“If crime rates are decreasing, why not reduce them further with Donald Trump’s assistance? How many victims are we willing to accept?”

Lopez also spoke with Newsmax, further criticizing Johnson and Pritzker, emphasizing the need for support from the National Guard to enhance city safety.

“It’s easy for Brandon Johnson to issue these empty orders, but we genuinely need help to relieve the pressure on the Chicago Police Department, which is tasked with safeguarding the city.”

He commended Trump for making strides against crime in Washington, D.C.

“It’s odd how the mayor and governor claim we’ve sufficiently reduced crime. They say there’s no need to go further. But look at D.C., where crime has plummeted by 84%. Why not aim for a similar decrease in Chicago?”

Lopez added, “If collaborating with President Trump is indeed a priority, then that could lead to meaningful progress.”

In a nod to the ongoing violence, while middle-class Chicagoans marched against Trump on Labor Day in a safe area, violence persisted elsewhere, with reports of at least 53 incidents and 55 fatalities in more dangerous neighborhoods.
